The Green Eyed Afghan Girl

The Green Eyed Afghan Girl

The green eyed Afghan girl appeared on the cover of the National Geographic in June 1985. I spotted a picture of this 12-year-old refugee staring at me outside a store in Istanbul, Turkey selling decorative items.

"You try to tell her what to do. And all she does is stares at you. Her stare is louder than your voice. Because truth doesn't make a noise." - from the song, Truth Doesn't Make a Noise, The White Stripes

32 years later, there is no shortage of truthful stares.
